RAJSHAHI, Nov 2, 2021 (BSS) - Police detained four people, including two women, for their alleged involvement in cheating people tactically, police said.

   The detained people were identified as Sayem Uddin, 35, son of Gazi Salahuddin, Muhammad Parvej, 32, son of late Dual Biswash, Razia Sultana alias Suma, 30, wife of Bappy Hossain and Sharifa Akter alias Sathi, 27, wife of Mamunur Rahman.

   Police said the gang members in accomplices with others trapped Iqbal Hossain, a retired lance corporal of Bangladesh Army, from Seroil Bus Terminal area on Monday last.

   Subsequently, they demanded Taka 5 lakh from him after taking his nude photograph with Sathi. Instantly, Iqbal paid Taka 50,000 and got released from the trapping condition.

   Thereafter, he lodged a complaint with the Detective Branch (DB) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) office detailing the matter.

  On a tip-off, DB team conducted a sudden raid in Boharampur area under Rajpara Police Station and arrested the gang members one after another last night. The police team also recovered Taka 45,000 and four mobile phones from their possessions.

   RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique revealed this while addressing a meet the press at his office conference hall this noon.

   He also urged the people in general to be conscious about such types of cheating gangs as they remained active in harming innocent people.
