12 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

  RAJSHAHI, Oct 28, 2021 (BSS) - Twelve more people have tested positive

for Covid-19 in four districts of the division on Wednesday, taking the
caseload to 98,923 since the pandemic began in March last year.  

 However, the new positive figure shows a significant falling trend compared
to the previous day's figure, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional
director of Health, adding that Tuesday's infection figure was 35.

     Besides, on October 20, the infection figure was just four, which was
the lowest-ever in the division since the second wave of the pandemic hit the
country.

     Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 95,094 in the division after 12
patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

     The death toll reached 1,672, including 685 in Bogura, 319 in Rajshahi
with 201 in its city, and 173 in Natore as no new death was reported during
the period, Dr Talukder added.

     Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under treatment while 22,987 were kept in isolation units of different
dedicated hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 19,398 have been
released.

     Meanwhile, 28 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 37 others were released from isolation during the
same time. Of the 12 new cases, four were detected in Bogura, followed by
three each in Rajshahi city and Pabna and two in Natore districts.

     With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the
total cases now stands at 28,099 in Rajshahi, including 22,661 in city, 5,673
in Chapainawabganj, 6,405 in Naogaon, 8,386 in Natore, 4,624 in Joypurhat,
21,623 in Bogura, 11,397 in Sirajganj and 12,716 in Pabna.

     A total of 1,13,814 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine
since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly
coronavirus (COVID-19).

     Of them, 1,12,683 have, by now, been released as they were given
clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
