CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Oct 26, 2021 (BSS) - The election campaign in
Chapainawabganj municipality polls has gained momentum as candidates for the
posts of mayor and councilors seek votes approaching door to door.

     Posters and banners are seen in different roads in the town as the
election will be held on November 2.

     According to the district election office, 4 candidates are contesting
for mayoral post, 22 for 5 reserved women councilor and 87 for 15 general
ward councilor posts.

     The mayoral candidates are Md. Mokhlesur Rahman (Awami League), Samiul
Hoque Liton (Independent), Nazrul Islam (Independent) and Md. Mostafizur
Rahman Muku (Independent).

     A total of 1,45,497 voters - 71,432 males and 74,065 females - will cast
their franchise in the municipality elections.

     The voters will cast their votes in 72 centres from 8 am till 4 pm
through EVM.
