Pirganj perpetrators' must face exemplary punishment: Faridul

   RANGPUR, Oct 20, 2021 (BSS) - State Minister for Religious Affairs

Md Faridul Haque Khan, MP, today said that the perpetrators of
violence and arson attacks in the houses of the Hindu community in
Pirganj must face exemplary punishment.

  "Those who want to obstruct the development and advancement of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina's government are creating riots to destroy the
atmosphere of communal harmony in the country," he said.

  He was distributing cash grants, dry foods, rice and cattle fodders
on behalf of the Ministry of Religious Affairs among the violence
victim 66 families of the Hindu community at Kasba Majhipara village
in Pirganj upazila as the chief guest.

   The state minister distributed Taka 10,000 among each of the 28
severely affected Hindu families and Taka 5,000 among 38 other
affected families of the village.

   Faridul said that the people's representatives, administration and
people must remain united against the defeated forces of independence,
bomb attackers and communal forces under the leadership of the premier
like in the last twelve years.

   "Then, none will be able to take the opportunity of chaos in the
country," he said.

  The state minister said that Bangladesh had gained independence
through the Great War of Liberation under the leadership of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and with the help of
people belongs to all faiths, castes, creeds and religions.

  "A non-communal Bangladesh is our constitutional base. Everyone in
the society should be aware of the fact so that the vicious clique of
the defeated anti-liberation forces of 1971 could no longer harm
communal harmony," he added.

   Presided over by Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Md Asib Ahsan, Senior
Vice-chairman of the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Manoranjan Shil
Gopal and its Vice-chairman Subrata Pal addressed the occasion as
special guests.

  Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md. Naib Ali
Mandal, Rangpur Superintendent of Police Biplob Kumar Sarker, Director
of Islamic Foundation for Rangpur Division Md Abul Kalam, Pirganj
Upazila Chairman Nur Mohammad Mandal and Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi
Officer Biroda Rani Roy were present.
