KURIGRAM, Dec 11, 2024 (BSS) - A woman and her daughter were tragically 
killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an 
auto-rickshaw in Bhurungamari upazila of the district on Wednesday. 

The deceased were Momena Begum, 45, wife of Mohammad Ali, and her daughter 
Munni Akhter, 25, residents of Mahiganj-Chandonia village of the upazila.

Police said the accident took place when a truck collided head-on with an 
auto-rickshaw in Ghuntighar area on the Sonahat Landport road at noon, 
leaving five auto-rickshaw passengers critically injured.

The wounded were sent to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex where on-duty 
doctor declared Munni dead.

Later, Momena Begum died on the way to Rangpur.

Injured Mohammad Ali was going to Bhurungamari Hospital by an auto-rickshaw 
along with his daughter Munni and wife Momena Begum for the treatment of 
Momena.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhurungamari Police Station Monirul Islam confirmed 
the matter.
