JOYPURHAT, Oct 16, 2021 (BSS) - The World Food Day-2021 was observed in the district and elsewhere across the country today in a befitting manner through various programmes.

  The World Food Day was observed with the theme "Our actions are our future- Better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life".

  Marking the day, a discussion was held at the deputy commissioner's conference room with additional deputy commissioner (General) Md. Mohiuddin Jahangir in the chair.

  Deputy Director (acting) of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Bablu Kumar Sutradhar, District Animal Resources Officer Doctor Mahfuzar Rahman, District Fisheries Officer Sardar Mohi Uddin, among others, were present on the occasion.

   The speakers said the present government has implemented various schemes to develop small and medium enterprises in the food processing industry including dairy and poultry farms and modern farming methods for rural development to ensure food security in the country.

   The speakers also said the present government is farmer friendly government and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has provided all facilities for the development of famers.

   The country had achieved tremendous success in food production during the tenure of the present government, they added.
