Durga Puja to be celebrated at 505 mandaps in Manikganj

  MANIKGANJ, Oct 8, 2021 (BSS) - Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival

of the Hindu community, will be celebrated at 505 mandaps in the district
this year.

  Manikganj district Puja Udjapan Parishad President Basudeb Saha said this
year the numbers of puja mandaps have increased as the Covid-19 situation in
the district improved. He said Durga Puja will be celebrated all over the
district in a befitting manner and festive mood.

  The government has allocated 500 kgs of rice for each of the puja mandaps
as the gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

  Basudeb Saha also said ' we are fully satisfied as the District
Administration, District Police Administration, RAB, Ansar and VDP, Fire
Brigade and Palli Bidyut already assured us for necessary cooperation for
celebrating the puja in a peaceful atmosphere'

  A total of 505 puja mandaps of the district are now in nearly completion.
Upazila- wise puja mandaps are 112 in Manikganj sadar, 63 in Saturia,74 in
Ghior upazila, 45 in Daulatpur, 89e in Shibalaya , 59 in Harirampur and 63
are in Singair upazila including 29 in Manikganj Poura Sava,10 in Singair
Poura Sava.

  The five-day long festival will begin on October 11 and end on October 15
with immersion of the idols of goddess Durga and other deities.
