3 held with 79-kgs ganja, vehicles in Rangpur

   RANGPUR, Sept 24, 2021 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 seized 79
kgs of ganja with a private car and a pick up van and arrested three presumed
drug traders from Dhaka Bus Stand point in Mithapukur upazila of the district
today.

    The arrested persons were identified as Md Yunus Ali, 24, of Kurigram and
Md Antor Ali, 21, and Md Nazmul Islam, 22, of Rangpur districts.

   "On a tip off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised
Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 conducted a raid there on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway
in the early morning," said a press release issued by Assistant Director
(Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed.

   After searching the private car and pick up van, the elite force seized 79
kgs of contraband ganja, the two vehicles and other goods from the
possessions of the drug traders and arrested them from the spot.    

   During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had
been involved in trading drugs for a long time.   

   "After filing a case in this connection against the arrested persons, the
elite force handed over him to Mithapukur police station," the release said,
adding that efforts were on to nab the other absconding cohorts of the
arrested persons.
