HABIGANJ, April 30, 2024 (BSS) - The driver and helper of a pickup van were killed in a collision between their fish-laden van and a cement-laden truck on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Tagli area under Bahubal upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as driver of the pickup van Hriday Mia, 26, son of Bahar Mia, resident  of Baliari village in Ubahata union of Chunarughat upazila and helper Ripon Mia, 24, son of Shoab Ali, resident of Sutang (East Noagao) village of Shayestaganj upazila of the district.
 
The accident occurred in the area when the fish-laden pickup van was going to Juri area and collided head-on with a cement-laden truck coming from the opposite direction around 6am this morning, leaving the driver and helper of the pickup van dead on the spot, officer-in-charge (OC) Bahubal Model Police Station Moshiur Rahman   said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot, OC said.

Police seized the pickup van and truck from the spot, OC added.
