MYMENSINGH, April 16, 2024 (BSS) - Two passengers were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Sherpur-Mymensingh road near Himalaya Petrol Pump in Kodaldhar area under Tarakanda upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Shahid Mia, 26, son of Akhtar Ali of Rajvallabpur village under Sadar upazila of Sherpur district and Sweety Akhtar, 20, daughter of late Abdur Rashid of Nakla upazila of the same district

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tarakanda Police Station Wazed Ali said that a passenger bus of Raj Super Paribahan, coming from Sherpur, collided head-on with a passenger bus of Eva Paribahan, going to Dhaka, around 7:30am. Then the two passenger buses fell into a ditch, leaving two passengers, including a woman, killed on the spot and 20 others of both buses injured.

Police and two units of fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and the two buses that had fallen into the ditch, he said.

The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, the OC said.
