MEHERPUR, April 1, 2024 (BSS) - Two people were killed after being hit by a truck on the Meherpur-Chuadanga road in Chandbil area of Sadar upazila here today.

One of the deceased was identified as Hasan Ali, 25, son of Liton Hossain, a resident of Chandbil village of the upazila.
 
The accident occurred in the area around 9am when a Meherpur-bound cement-laden truck hit them as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving them dead on the spot, officer-in-charge (OC) of Meherpur Sadar Police Station Sheikh Kani Mia said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot. Body of Hasan Ali has been handed over to the family member and another unidentified body kept at Meherpur General Hospital morgue, the OC said.

Police seized the truck and arrested its driver, the OC added.
