RAJSHAHI, Sept 17, 2021 (BSS)- Some 400 less-income families were given
humanitarian assistance to mitigate their hardship and starvation caused by
flood.

Each of them was given 10 kilograms (Kgs)of rice in Panchabati area of
Rajshahi city yesterday afternoon through maintaining health rules amid the
Covid-19 pandemic.

They were also given one face mask each to protect them from the Covid-19
infection.

Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by his ward councilor
Arman Ali distributed the materials among the flood-affected people urging
them to face the natural calamity with courage.

He also assured his all-possible support to free the area from inundating
by the floodwater as soon as possible.

Mayor Liton also urged other government, non-government and volunteer
organisations to remain by the worst-affected people amid the pandemic.

He said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership
of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to support the
hand-to-mouth people during the global pandemic.

Liton said all the worst-affected people are being brought under
humanitarian support so that they can lead their life through mitigating
their financial constraint being caused by the pandemic.

He, however, urged the people to follow health rules strictly for
containing the spread of the deadly virus.
