SATKHIRA, March 6, 2024 (BSS) - Two college students were killed and another was injured in a motorcycle accident  in Dhapua bridge area under Assasuni upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Nayan Ghosh, 19, son of Niranjan Ghosh of Amania village under Kaliganj upazila, and William Ghosh, 18, son of Jagannath Ghosh of the same village. They were HSC second year students of Kaliganj College.

According to police and locals, three friends went to join a programme at Jagannath Gurudev temple in Jethua Jalalpur in Tala upazila on Tuesday evening.

When they were returning home from  the event the motorcycle carrying them crashed into the under-construction Dhapua bridge  and plunged into a water body in the area around 6:30 am this morning, leaving Nayan Ghosh and William Ghosh dead on the spot and another was injured, officer-in-charge(OC) of Assasuni Police Station Biswajit Kumar Adhikari  said.

Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, OC said.

The injured was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

Legal action will be taken in this regards, the OC added.
