PABNA, Jan 20, 2024 (BSS) - Two officials of Export Processing Zone (EPZ) were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus on the Dashuria-Kushtia highway in Kolerkandi area under Ishwardi upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Amit Kumar Kundu, 40, son of Subrata Kumar Kundu, a resident of Radhanagar area under Pabna town, and Nasim Hossain, 45, son of Abdur Rauf of Sheikhpara village under Muladali union of Ishwardi. They were officers of Renesa Limited in Ishwardi EPZ.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus of S N Paribahan was going to Dashuria from Kushtia. On the way, it collided head-on with a microbus coming from the opposite direction around 8:30am this morning, leaving five seriously injured, in-charge of Pakshi Highway Police Outpost of Ishwardi Ashish Kumar Sanal, said.

Locals rescued them and took to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex but the two succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital, he said.

Police seized the bus and microbus from the spot but the driver and helper of the bus managed to flee the scene, he added.
