MUNSHIGANJ, Dec 9, 2023 (BSS) - At least four people of a family, including a child and two women, were injured in an explosion when a fire broke out at a multi-storied building in Idrakpur area under Sadar upazila of the district today.

The victims were identified as Rizvi Ahmed Russell, 42, his wife Rozina Begum, 35, their child Rayan Ahmed, 3 and Rizvi Ahmed's mother Sahida Khatun,65.

They lived here on rent. Russell works in Munshiganj General Hospital as the program officer in One Stop Service of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs.

Locals said that they went outside at around 6am after hearing a loud bang and they then saw the fire at the 4th floor of that residential building and heard people screaming there.

Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Mustafa Mohsin said, on information, firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to the Munshiganj General Hospital.
Later, three of them were sent to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka for better treatment, he said.
