Corruption control stressed on building Smart Bangladesh by 2041

JAMALPUR, Dec 09, 2023 (BSS)- Speakers at a discussion on "International

Anti-corruption Day" here today said the government has been putting emphasis
on creating awareness alongside legal proceedings to check corruption.

To build Smart Bangladesh by 2041, people have to continue their efforts to
make the country free from all sorts of corruption gradually, they said.

"Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had contemplated to
build 'Sonar Bangla' by taking steps against corruption," the speakers said,
adding that people from all walks of life should come forward to prevent
corruption imbuing Bangabandhu's steps.

They also stressed the need for enhancing empowerment of the community people
so that they can raise their voice against corruption.

District Administration, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and District
Corruption Prevention Committee jointly organised the meeting at the Deputy
Commissioner's conference room in the town.

Deputy Commissioner Md Shafiur Rahman addressed the meeting as
the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Md Moktar
Hossain in the chair.

Deputy Director of the ACC, Integrated District Office, Malay Kumar Saha
delivered welcome speech.

Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Anowar, Civil
Surgeon Dr Pronoy Kanti Das, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Mun
Mun Jahan Liza, President of District Corruption Prevention Committee
Professor Masum Alam Khan and journalist Sajjat Ansary spoke at the meeting,
among others.

Marking the day, a rally led by Deputy Commissioner was brought out from the
Deputy Commissioner's office premises and ended at the same place after
parading the important streets of the district town.

Earlier, a human chain was formed at Bakul Tola area in the town.
