7.42pc Covid-19 positivity rate recorded in Rangpur division


 
RANGPUR, Sept 6, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 7.42 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 27 fresh cases were reported after testing 364 new samples at two laboratories in the division on Saturday.
 
“The Covid-19 situation is improving consistently during the last one month in the division,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.
   
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 9.79 percent on Sunday, 9.80 percent on Saturday, 6.88 on Friday, 13.48 percent on Thursday, 12.04 percent on Wednesday and 12.08 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
   
Among the 27 new patients, 12 were reported positive after diagnosing 176 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 6.82 percent today.
 
“The 12 new patients include six from Rangpur, one from Lalmonirhat, three from Kurigram and two from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:10 pm.
 
On the other hand, 15 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 7.98 percent today.

“The 15 new Covid-19 infected patients include eight from Dinajpur, one from Nilphamari and six from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
 
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 53,764 as 27 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
 
The district-wise break up of total 53,764 patients include 12,217 of Rangpur, 3,546 Panchagarh, 4,334 of Nilphamari, 2,698 of Lalmonirhat, 4,557 of Kurigram, 7,284 of Thakurgaon, 14,370 of Dinajpur and 4,758 of Gaibandha districts in the division.
