Rangpur records 10.47pc Covid-19 positivity rate

RANGPUR, Sept 5, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 10.47 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 38 fresh cases were reported after testing 363 new samples at two laboratories in the division on Saturday.

“The Covid-19 situation is improving consistently in recent weeks in the division,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight.

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 9.80 percent on Saturday, 6.88 on Friday, 12.60 percent on Saturday, 12.04 percent on Wednesday, 12.08 percent on Tuesday and 16.05 percent on Monday last in the division  

Among the 38 new patients, 21 were reported positive after diagnosing 175 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 12 percent today.

“The 21 new patients include nine from Rangpur, two from Lalmonirhat, six from Kurigram and four from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:45 pm.

On the other hand, 17 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 9.04 percent.

“The 17 new Covid-19 infected patients include 12 from Dinajpur, one each from Thakurgaon and Nilphamari and three from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

 Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 53,688 as 38 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 53,688 patients stands at 12,204 in Rangpur, 3,535 in Panchagarh, 4,332 in Nilphamari, 2,690 in Lalmonirhat, 4,547 in Kurigram, 7,265 in Thakurgaon, 14,360 in Dinajpur and 4,755 in Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
