SUNAMGANJ, Oct 12, 2023 (BSS) - Two persons, including a schoolgirl, were killed and four others injured when a passenger bus ran over a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Patharia area under Shantiganj upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Tawhia Akhtar, 13, resident of Sharifpur village under Derai upazila. She was a sixth-grader of Patharia Surma High School, and Emran Miah, 42, was a resident of the same area .

According to police and Fire Service, a Derai-bound passenger bus of Sakin Paribahan from Chattogram ran over the CNG-run auto-rickshaw while giving way to the CNG-run auto rickshaw coming from the opposite direction around 9am, leaving two passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and four others injured, sub-inspector (SI) of Shantiganj police station I Subrata Roy said.

The injured were taken to the hospital.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, the SI added.
