RANGPUR, Sept 3, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 7.07 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 26 fresh cases were reported after testing 368 newly collected samples of the division today.
“The Covid-19 situation is significantly improving during the last more than three weeks in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 13.48 percent on Thursday, 12.04 percent on Wednesday, 12.08 percent on Tuesday, 16.05 percent on Monday, 11.66 percent on Sunday and 12.60 percent on Saturday last in the division.
Among the 26 new patients, 15 were reported positive after diagnosing 180 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 8.33 percent today.
“The 15 new patients include 10 from Rangpur, three from Kurigram and one each from Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 5:30 pm.
On the other hand, 11 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 5.85 percent today.
“The 11 new Covid-19 infected patients include six from Dinajpur, three from Thakurgaon and one each from Nilphamari and Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 53,540 as 26 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of 53,540 patients stands at 12,171 in Rangpur, 3,515 in Panchagarh, 4,328 in Nilphamari, 2,678 in Lalmonirhat, 4,536 in Kurigram, 7,247 in Thakurgaon, 14,321 in Dinajpur and 4,744 in Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
