CHATTOGRAM, Sept 27, 2023 (BSS) - The World Tourism Day was observed in 
Chattogram and its adjacent upazila of the district today with the call for 
promoting the tourism industry in the region.

To mark the day, the Chattogram district administration and Bangladesh 
Parjatan Corporation jointly brought out a rally and held a discussion at 
Jilla Shilpakala Auditorium today.

A colourful rally led by Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Abul Bashar Md 
Fakruzzaman started from Jilla Shilpakala academy premises concluded at same 
venue after parading different streets of the city.

The theme for World Tourism Day 2023 is "Tourism and Green Investments" 
emphasizing the importance of making tourism more sustainable and environment 
friendly.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rakibul Hasan presided over the function 
while Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Abul Bashar Md Fakruzzaman addressed 
the meeting as the chief guest.

DC Fakruzzaman said Bangladesh has immense potentials in the world tourism 
industry. The natural diversity of Chattogram is a unique feature and the 
people of the area are hospitable as the potential of tourism increasing in 
Chattogram continuously, he added.
