
RANGPUR, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 13.18 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 49 fresh cases were reported after testing 353 newly collected samples of all eight districts in the division today.
“The Covid-19 situation is showing an improving trend during the last three weeks in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 12.08 percent on Tuesday, 16.05 percent on Monday, 11.66 percent on Sunday, 12.60 percent on Saturday, 18.44 percent on Friday and 18.58 percent on Thursday last in the division.
Among the 49 new patients, 27 were reported positive after diagnosing 165 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 16.36 percent today.
“The 27 new patients include 17 from Rangpur, three from Kurigram, one from Lalmonirhat and six from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7 pm.
On the other hand, 22 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 11.17 percent today.
“The 22 new Covid-19 infected patients include 19 from Dinajpur and three from Thakurgaon and three from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 53,265 as 49 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break-up of 53,265 patients now stands at 12,133 in Rangpur, 3,487 in Panchagarh, 4,312 in Nilphamari, 2,664 in Lalmonirhat, 4,518 in Kurigram, 7,188 in Thakurgaon, 14,217 in Dinajpur and 4,674 in Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
