Covid-19 healing cases hit 89,289 in Rajshahi division

   RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) - A total of 422 more people were cured from

Covid-19 in the division on Tuesday, taking the total recovery cases to
89,289 since the pandemic began in March last year.

   On the other hand, 189 more people have tested positive for the deadly
virus in seven districts of the division on the same day, taking the total
number of infected cases to 95,699, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder,
divisional director of health.

   However, the new daily infection figure is one of the ever-lowest in the
last couple of days since the second wave hit the country around four months
back. However, the previous day's positive cases were 88 here.

   On the other hand, the death toll reached 1,605, including 664 in Bogura,
296 in Rajshahi with 175 in its city, and 168 in Natore, as six fresh cases
of fatality were reported during the period, Dr Talukder added.

   Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under treatment while 21,816 were kept in isolation units of different
hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 17,102 have by now been
released.

   On the other hand, 138 more people have been sent to home and
institutional quarantine afresh while 202 others were released from isolation
during the same time.

   Of the total new positive cases, the highest 48 were detected in Natore,
followed by 46 in Rajshahi, including 39 in its city, 32 in Pabna, 25 in
Sirajganj, 24 in Bogura, eight in Chapainawabganj and six in Joypurhat
districts.

   With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total
cases now stands at 27,194 in Rajshahi, including 21,900 in city, 5,498 in
Chapainawabganj, 6,307 in Naogaon, 8,081 in Natore, 4,482 in Joypurhat,
21,018 in Bogura, 10,856 in Sirajganj and 12,263 in Pabna.

   A total of 1,10,147 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly
coronavirus (COVID-19).

   Of them, 1,05,993 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
