RANGPUR, June 25, 2021 (BSS) - Two people, including a child and his rescuer, embraced tragic deaths after falling into a well made for drainage of water from a deep tube well in Pirganj upazila here this afternoon.
 
The deceased were identified as Jim, 8, son of Abdul Halim of Jaipur village and Milon, 24, son of Azhar Ali of the same village in Kabilpur union of the upazila.  
 
According to police and fire service sources, Abdul Halim, father of deceased Jim, of the village constructed a 15-feet deep well to drain the water from the nearby deep tube well.
 
Suddenly, his minor son Jim fell into that unprotected well.

Milon, a youth from the neighborhood, came forward to rescue Jim from the well by using a traditional ladder.
 
Milon himself fell into the well when the ladder broke while lifting Jim up the ladder from the well in the afternoon.
 
Local people failed to rescue them and informed the fire service and civil defense station at Pirganj about the incident.
 
But, both of them died before the fire service and civil defense personnel reached the scene.
 
Fire service personnel later recovered the bodies of Jim and Milon from the well.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj police station Suresh Chandra confirmed the tragic deaths of Jim and Milon in the village.
