SYLHET, Aug 8, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two persons to life-term imprisonment for killing a man named Abdul Quddus Babul in Sadar upazila in 2001.

Judge of Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal Md Shahadat Hossain Pramanik handed down the verdict to Ana Mia and Dara Mia. Both of them are the residents at Poshchim Bhatpara village in Sadar upazila.

The tribunal also fined each of them Tk 20000. If they are unable to pay the amount, they will have to serve six months more in jail.

According to the prosecution, on September 3 in 2001 the convicts shot Abdul Quddus and Afser Ahmed. Abdul Quddus died while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Following the murder, Afser's brother filed a case with Sylhet Sadar Thana on September 5.

Testifying witnesses and evidences the court gave the verdict in presence of Ana and Dara. The court acquitted another accused namely Abdul Khalik in the verdict.
