KHULNA, Aug 6, 2023 (BSS)-The newly appointed Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Md Mozammel Haque today exchanged views with the journalists at the KMP headquarters here.

The new KMP Commissioner remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and all martyrs of August 15, 1975, four national leaders and sacrifices of all in the War of Liberation with deep sorrow and respect.

He respectfully remembered the martyred policemen who resisted the Pakistani occupation forces in the first hour of the independence.

Later, the KMP Chief urged the journalists to express their opinions about existing problems of Khulna city and sought suggestions in this regard.

The journalists discussed various crime issues of the city, existing problems in the law and order situation, drugs trading, selling, gambling, traffic system, ‘kishore gang’ and requested to take appropriate legal measures in these regard.

The journalist also gave assurance of remaining with all the efforts of KMP by maintaining professionalism.

The KMP boss urged the journalists to cooperate with police to curb crimes, drug abuse and all kinds of social curses from the society.

He assured the journalists and said that the KMP will take action against drug peddlers, gamblers, ‘kishore gang’, terrorists, militants and illegal arms possessors.

He, however, said, new database of criminals, drug peddlers and terrorists will be prepared and Police will be conducted series of drives against the listed criminals, militants, illegal arms possessors ahead of the upcoming general election.

Additional Police Commissioners Sarder Rakibul Islam, Md Sazid Hossain and Taslima Khatun, deputy police commissioners Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Md Kamrul Islam, Zahangir Hossain and A Z M Tayebur Rahman, additional deputy police commissioners Md Moniruzzaman and Sonali Sen, among others, were present.
