KERANIGANJ, July 6, 2023 (BSS) - Keraniganj Model Thana Police arrested members of a gang on the charges of robbery at a factory in Kalatijaya area in Keraniganj.

Police also recovered two covered vans used in robbery and seized goods worth Taka 82.5 lakh with the help of information technology. The CCTV camera footage around the factory was able to identify the accused.

The arrested were identified as Dakat Sardar Hamidul Islam,40, Aminul Islam alias Raju, 45, Zahid Miza, 42, Monirul Islam alias Ratan Driver, 32 Azizul Haque Aziz Driver, 48, Israfi 30, Sajal Miza, 30 and Rashida Begum,33. They were arrested from Savar, Gazipur, Ashulia areas, police said.

Police Superintendent Asaduzzaman disclosed this information in a press conference at the Dhaka District Police Superintendent's office this afternoon.

He told the journalists that the robbery happened at the factory of Appiz Global Ltd. in Kalatia Nishanbari area of Keraniganj Model Police Station on the night of July 2.

He said that when the security guard locked the gate of the factory, four to five robbers made the guards hostage at gunpoint. Three fingers of a guard were cut off by the robbers and the robbers brutally assaulted the security guard of the factory. 

The SP also said that after the robbery, under the direction of Dhaka District Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police Crime and Ops (South) Md. Aminul Islam, under the direction of Keraniganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Shahab Uddin Kabir, the Special Investigation Team started working to unravel the mystery of the factory robbery.
 
With the help of information technology, the CCTV camera footage around the factory was able to identify the accused.

Additional Superintendent of Police Crime and Ops (South) Md. Aminul Islam, Keraniganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Shahab Uddin Kabir, Keraniganj Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Mamunur Rashid, Operation Ashiqur Rahman and Dhaka District were present at the press conference.
