CHATTOGRAM, June 5, 2023 (BSS) - The Directorate of Environment (DoE), Chattogram today observed World Environment Day with various programmes.
 
In observance of the day, the DoE held a discussion meeting at Shilphokala Academy auditorium this afternoon.
 
DoE (Metro) Director Hillol Biswas presided over the meeting while Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram Dr Mohammad Aminur Rahman attended the meeting as the chief guest.
 
Dr Alak Pal of Geography and Environment Department of Chattogram University presented the keynote paper in the discussion.
 
Additional DIG Mahfuzur Rahman, Additional Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (Traffic) Faisal Mahmud and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rakib Hassan, among others, participated in the discussion.
 
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners in drawing, debate, essay and slogan writing competitions.
 
Earlier, DoE brought out a colorful rally of the people from all walks of life, including students, activists of NGOs, environment activists and representatives of several professional bodies.
