FENI, June 1, 2023 (BSS) - Three people, including a husband and his wife, were killed and two others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Kazir Dighi area under Sadar upazila of the district in the early hours of today.

The deceased were identified as Shimul, 30, his wife Yasmin, 28, residents of Surarampur village in Homna upazila of Cumilla district, and pickup driver Abu Sayed, 29, son of Baker Miah of Korpai village under Burichong upazila of Cumilla district.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Feni Highway Police Md Mustafa Kamal said that a speedy pickup hit a standing covered van from behind in Kazir Dighi area around 2:30am, leaving five passengers of the pickup serious injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Feni General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared three of them dead, the OC added.
