GOPALGANJ, May 17, 2023 (BSS) - Police in separate drives in the town

arrested six leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, a student wing
of Jamaat-e-Islami, today.

The detainees are identified as Al Imran Musa, 24, president of Gopalganj
Sadar Thana unit Chhatra Shibir, Abu Kalam, 21, Sadar Thana unit General
Secretary, Muaj Billah, 22, a third-year student of Political Science
Department at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology
University, Selim Reza, 25, a third-year student of Chemical Engineering
Department at the university, Alauddin, 32, the Imam of Miapara Bismillah
Jame mosque in the town and Shariful Islam, 15, a madrasa student.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Thana Jabed Masud said, on
information, police conducted a raid at a house in Miapara area this noon and
nabbed four Shibir men.

In another drive, two other Shibir activists were arrested from SS Alia
madrasa in the town, he added.

Police seized Islamic books, magazine, special forms and leaflets from their
possession during the drives.
