MYMENSINGH, May 1, 2023 (BSS) - The historic May Day was observed here today like other parts of the country and the world in a befitting manner.
 
Various political parties, trade unions, labour and socio-cultural
organisations organized various programs including discussion meetings, rallies and cultural functions marking the day.
 
In observance of the day, the district administration has brought out a rally. The rally started from the Town Hall Ground at 9.30 am and ended at Deputy Commissioner Office premises.
 
Deputy Commissioner Mustafizer Rahman and Police Super Masum Ahamed Bhuiyan led the rally.
 
Later a discussion meeting was held at the auditorium of the Deputy Commissioner office. Deputy Commissioner Mustafizer Rahman addressed it as chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner Polak Kanti Chacraborty in the chair.
 
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahfuzul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mehadi Hassan, Police Super Shahinur Fakir, UNO Sadar upazila Shafiqul Islam and representatives of labor organisations among others spoke.
 
Speakers narrated the historical background and significance of the day and also highlighted the contributions of deceased labour leaders for establishing their rights. They also urged all to be united and take a role to build smart Bangladesh.
