
CHATTOGRAM, April 16, 2023 (BSS) - The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has instructed the transport owners and their staff for not collecting extra fare from the passengers ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitre.
“In order to ensure safe journey of the homebound people on the occasion of Eid, parking of cars and other vehicles on the roads should be avoided in the city,” the CMP sources said.
According to a press release of the Public Relations Department of the CMP, the passengers will not be charged more than the government-fixed fare on any route or any counter.
Earlier, on Saturday, the decision was taken in a meeting with the leaders of bus-minibus owners and workers association from Karnaphuli new bridge to South Chattogram to resolve the traffic congestion in the city ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The meeting was organized by the Traffic-South Division of the CMP for ensuring smooth movement of the mass people.
Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police (DC-Traffic) NM Naseeruddin presided over the meeting that was held at the conference room of Traffic-South Division at Ice Factory Road in the city.
In the meeting, DC-Traffic said that on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, all preparations have been made by the traffic department to ease the traffic congestion in the city and celebrate Eid safely.
High officials of the CMP and transport owners association were present in the meeting.
