MUNSHIGANJ, April 15, 2023 (BSS) - A chicken trader was killed in a road accident in Kewatkhali area on the Bangabandhu Expressway under Sreenagar upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Omar Sheikh, 30, son of Md Mizan, a resident of Mashurgaon village in Patabhog union of the upazila.

The accident occurred in the area when a Mawa-bound chicken-laden pick-up van fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the vehicle in the area around 6am, leaving Omar Sheikh, owner of the pick-up van, seriously injured, Sreenagar Fire Service Station Warehouse Inspector Md. Mahfuz Riben said.

Later, police and fire service personnel rescued Omar Sheikh and sent him to the Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hansara Highway Police Station Molla Zakir Hossain said.

The body was handed over to the family member, the OC added.
