NOAKHALI, March 31, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 10 shops were gutted in a fire at

Char Elahi Bazar under Companiganj upazila of the district in the early hours
of today.

The fire originated from an electric short-circuit at a shop of Char Elahi
Bazar around 3.30 am and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments,
as a result, 10 shops were completely gutted, Station Officer of Companiganj
Fire Service and Civil Defense Md. Jamil Miah told BSS.

Being informed, firefighters from Companiganj Fire Service and Civil Defense
unit rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals and
affected businessmen after one-hour of tireless efforts, he said.

"The extent of damage could be known after the investigation," he added.
