CHATTOGRAM, March 23, 2023 (BSS) - Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) detained a youth with 32 pieces of gold bars at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport this morning. 

The arrested passenger was identified as Mohammad Ziauddin, 31, son of Abul Bashar, hailed from Enayetpur village under Hathazari upazila of the district.

CIID's additional director Md Bashir Ahmed told journalists that the detained passenger who came from Dubai by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 8:30 am.

Then custom officials recovered 23 gold bars hidden in his dresses. Later, nine more gold bars were also found in his rectum following an x-ray report, Bashir Ahmed said.

 The market value of the seized gold bars weighing about 3.732 kg is around Tk 3.22 crore.

A case would be filed against him, he added.
