KHAGRACHHARI, March 22, 2023 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup van on Khagrachhari-Chattogram highway in Joutho Khamar area under Matiranga upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Md Moharaj, 23, son of Md Abdul Kuddus, a resident of Rosulpur village under Ward No-9 of the municipality.

According to witnesses, when Moharaj reached Joutho Khamar area, his bike collided head-on with a vegetable-laden pick-up coming from the opposite direction around 7:30am, leaving him critically injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Matiranga police station Md Zakaria said.

Locals rushed him to Matiranga Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Police rushed to the spot and seized the pickup, but its driver managed to flee the scene.

The body was sent to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy and legal steps are under process in this regard, the OC added.
