MANIKGANJ, March 22, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 367 more houses were handed over to the landless and homeless families of five upazilas of the district today as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the Ashrayan- 2 Project.

Among the 367 houses, 31 are in Manikganj Sadar upazila, 163 in Singair upazila, 62 in Shibalaya upazila, 77 in Harirampur upazila and 34 in Daulatpur upazila. 
 
Of the seven upazilas, four upazilas of the district are now free of landless and homeless people with the addition of the two new upazilas today. Singair and Daulatpur upazila were declared as free of homeless and landless people on Wednesday.

Ghior and Saturia were already declared as free of landless and homeless people earlier. 

All of the upazilas of the district will be free from landless and homeless by June, 2023 with the handing over of houses to the recipients of the last three upazilas of the district - Manikganj Sadar, Shibalaya and Harirampur.

A total of 1445 landless and homeless families were identified in all seven upazilas of the district. The district administration said, adding, that 227 houses are under construction and those will be handed over to the landless and homeless people by June 2023. 

With the handing over of those houses, the district will be declared as free of homeless and landless people.
