JOYPURHAT, March 22, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a drug case filed under Panchbibi upazila of the district in 2018.

The convict is Farhad Ali, 53 son of late Adam Ali, resident of Shantipara Darshana village of Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district.

Additional District and Sessions Court-2 Judge Md Abbas Uddin pronounced the verdict this afternoon.

The court also fined him Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer another six-month imprisonment.

According to case statement, on July 10, 2018, Farhad Ali was arrested by the police from Chechhra area near the border of Panchbibi upazila of the district with 140 pieces of Buprenorphine drug injection

A case was filed with Panchbibi Thana Police Station against him under Narcotics Control Act.

The investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector of Panchbibi Police Farooq Hossain filed the charge sheet in the court on July 31, 2018.

After examining the record and witnesses, the court found him guilty.

 Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Nripendranath Mondal confirmed the matter.
