LAKSHMIPUR, March 22, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced three people to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Sadar upazila in 2016.

District and Session Judge Md Rahibul Islam handed down the verdict to Sirajul Islam, Bhulu Mia and Md Masum. All of them are residents of Dakhin Tumchar village of the upazila.

According to the prosecution, on March 1 in 2016 the convicts bit Ruhul Amin with sticks at the village over land dispute. Later Ruhul Amin died on the way to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

His son filed a case following the murder accusing nine people. On July 18 police pressed the charge sheet accusing eight people.

Testifying witnesses and evidence the court gave the order. The court also acquitted five persons in the verdict.

The court fined each Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more in jail, said Public Prosecutor Jasim Uddin.
