PIROJPUR, March 18, 2023 (BSS) - At least six shops were gutted in a fire at Baidyapara intersection of Pirojpur-Nazirpur road area under Sadar upazila here today.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop of Baidyapara intersection of Pirojpur-Nazirpur road area around 5am and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments, Deputy Assistant Director of Pirojpur Fire Service Md. Abdur Rashid said.

Being informed, two units of Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals and affected businessmen after one hour of efforts, he added.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim visited the spot and gave financial assistance of Taka 20,000 to the owners of each affected shop.
