SUNAMGANJ, March 15, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Faruq today said the government will take projects for excavation of 19 rivers in haor regions to ensure normal flow of water. 

"It is urgent to take river excavation projects for protecting the people of haor region from natural disaster, specially flood," he told journalists while visiting Tuphankhali Crop Protection Embankment in Derai Upzila of the district, an official release said. 

The state minister said, "Haor region in the country is familiar with its distinct and diversified geographical character... so it is absolutely difficult to build any infrastructure like embankment to prevent flash flood and other natural disasters."
