GOPALGANJ, Feb 7, 2023 (BSS) - Veteran politician, valiant freedom fighter, former president of Gopalganj district unit of Awami League (AL) and former chairman of the district council Emdadul Haque Chowdhury was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Manikdah village in Sadar upazila here today.

Earlier his first namaz-e-janaza was held at Kalabagan ground in the capital on Monday afternoon.

His body was brought to the Government Bangabandhu College ground in Sadar upazila of the district from Dhaka.

A guard of honor was given to him in memory of his role in the 1971 Liberation War.

On behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, district administration, police administration and district Awami League paid tribute to him.

His second namaz-e-janaza was held on Government Bangabandhu College ground in Sadar upazila around 10am this morning.

Deputy commissioner, district Awami League and leaders of allied organizations, people of all walks of life including political leaders and workers, government officials and social workers joined the janaza.

Later, he was buried at his family graveyard after his third namaz-e-janaza held at Manikdah village of the upazila.

Freedom fighter Emdadul Haque Chowdhury died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital while undergoing treatment on Monday morning.
