SHERPUR, Feb 1, 2023 (BSS) - Cheques for financial assistance from Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust were distributed today among the indigent and sick journalists of the district as Covid-19 aid promised by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sahela Akhter handed over the cheques to the sick journalists and the families of the journalists who died of coronavirus at a programme held at the Rajnigandha conference room of the district collectorate office this morning.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Muktadirul Ahmed, Sherpur Press Club General Secretary Meraj Uddin, Journalists Rafiqul Islam Aadhar, Manik Dutt and Sanjib Chanda Biltu, among others, spoke on the occasion.

District administration organized the cheque distribution ceremony.

Cheques for Taka 520,000 were distributed among the journalists working in the district.
