JAMALPUR, Dec 16, 2022 (BSS) - The Victory Day-2022 was celebrated in the district today with a renewed vow for building a happy, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh with the spirit of the War of Liberation.
District Administration, freedom fighters, political parties, educational institutes and various social and cultural organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.
The day's programme began with paying homage to the Liberation war martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the memorial here after sunrise.
District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner, Shrabosti Roy first placed wreath at the memorial.
He was followed by Police Administration, Muktijodha Sangsad, Zila Parishad, Upazila Parishad, Civil Surgeon Office, Jamalpur Pourashava, political parties, educational institutions, government offices, NGOs, cultural organisations and Jamalpur Press Club.
A colourful march past was held at Freedom Fighter Advocate Abdul Hakim stadium. Police, Ansar VDP, fire service, BNCC, scouts, girls guides, students and various social and cultural organisations joined the march past. Deputy Commissioner, Shrabosti Roy and Superintendent of Police, Nasir Uddin Ahmed took salute and visited the mast past.
Special prayers were offered at mosques after Jumma prayer seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and other liberation war martyrs.
Besides a discussion meeting, cultural function, documentary movie display and reception for the freedom fighters were also held to observe the day.
