DHAKA, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - Telecommunications service provider, Grameenphone (GP) has introduced "Instagram basic mode" in partnership with Meta and powered by Telenor Linx, becoming one of the first operators in Asia to launch the innovative feature that enables subscribers to continue enjoying core features and community on Instagram.

The new feature allows customers to enjoy a limited Instagram browsing experience after their regular data balance is exhausted, said a GP press release today.

The allowance supports essential activities, including viewing notifications, reading captions, and browsing standard images and reels, helping users remain connected without interruption.

With "Instagram basic mode", subscribers can easily purchase a data package directly within the app whenever they are ready for the full experience. Once a regular data pack is activated, Instagram automatically returns to its full-feature mode, offering high-resolution images, videos and all standard functionalities.
