DHAKA, July 4, 2026 (BSS) - The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) and the United States Embassy in Dhaka today jointly celebrated the 250th anniversary of US Independence, reaffirming their commitment to deepening Bangladesh-US friendship, trade, investment and economic cooperation.

The event, titled "Freedom 250", was held at a hotel in the city and brought together government adviser, minister, diplomats, business leaders, development partners and media representatives to commemorate the historic milestone.

Prime Minister's Adviser and Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office Mahdi Amin, State Minister for Planning Md. Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki and US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, AmCham Bangladesh President Syed Mohammad Kamal said the celebration reflected the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and the United States and highlighted the shared vision of expanding bilateral economic relations.

Describing the event as a unique initiative jointly hosted by AmCham and the US Embassy, he said the gathering demonstrated the strong partnership between the two countries and the growing engagement of the American business community in Bangladesh.

Kamal said AmCham has been contributing to Bangladesh's economic development for more than three decades by facilitating trade and investment and supporting the operations of US companies across diverse sectors.

He noted that American companies have made significant contributions to Bangladesh's energy sector, aviation, healthcare, financial services and other key industries by introducing global standards, advanced technologies and international best practices.

The AmCham president said the chamber continues to serve as the primary platform for American investors seeking business opportunities in Bangladesh and remains committed to promoting a more inclusive and competitive business environment.

He also highlighted the inclusion of the US Embassy's Commercial Advisor as an adviser to the AmCham board, saying the move would further strengthen cooperation between the chamber and the embassy in facilitating trade and investment.

"We will continue to drive a more inclusive business ecosystem in the country," Kamal said, reaffirming AmCham's commitment to supporting the US business community and expanding bilateral commercial engagement.

He expressed appreciation to government representatives, diplomats, business leaders and sponsors for supporting the celebration despite the day being a holiday, describing the strong participation as a reflection of the close and growing ties between Bangladesh and the United States.

The programme concluded with cultural performances celebrating the longstanding friendship and people-to-people connections between the two countries.
