DHAKA, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - The government has appointed Ahsan Habib as the new chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), replacing Md Abdur Rahman Khan.

The appointment was announced through a government notification issued today.

Prior to his elevation, Ahsan Habib served as an NBR member and as director general of the Central Intelligence Cell (CIC), the tax intelligence unit responsible for investigating tax evasion, financial irregularities and illicit financial activities.

A member of the 15th BCS (Taxation) cadre, Ahsan Habib graduated from the Department of Geology at the University of Dhaka, securing first-class first position. He also topped his BCS batch.
