DHAKA, June 20, 2021 (BSS) - The SME Foundation will put forward a set of proposals before the National Board of Revenue (NBR) including, plans for providing tax holiday facility to the new and small entrepreneurs for 10 years.
They also demanded the government to further reducing the corporate tax rate and providing cash incentives to create new entrepreneurs, boosting export of SME products and creating demand in the local market.
The high ups of the SME Foundation opined that materialization of these proposals would help a lot for the flourishment of the SMEs.
SME Foundation Chairperson Prof Dr Masudur Rahman highlighted these while addressing a virtual press conference today on the proposed budget for FY22.
Extending thanks to the government for adopting some 14 SME-friendly proposals in the proposed budget, he said, “We express our deep gratitude to the government for adopting various SME-friendly proposals. But, we’ll send some more proposals to the NBR before the budget gets passed so that the SME entrepreneurs can recoup their losses from COVID-19 in a speedy manner and thus the SMEs get flourished further.”
Masudur said their fresh proposals include reducing turnover tax on the SMEs, reducing corporate tax rate and also providing at least 20 percent cash incentives against the export of SME products.
He informed that the Foundation would disburse Taka 100 crore out of the government’s special stimulus package among the micro, small and medium enterprises within this June so that they could overcome the shock from COVID-19.
