DHAKA, April 20, 2026 (BSS) - Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma has said
Bangladesh and India are uniquely positioned to lead regional economic
integration and build resilient, future-ready supply chains through enhanced
connectivity and cooperation.

He made the remarks while welcoming a delegation of newly appointed directors
of the India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) at an
interactive session held at the High Commission in Dhaka, said an Indian High
Commission press release here today.

The meeting reaffirmed both sides' commitment to unlocking new avenues of
cooperation and elevating the Bangladesh-India economic partnership to a
higher level, according to a statement issued on Monday.

IBCCI, a platform comprising more than 500 companies, plays a key role in
promoting bilateral trade, investment and business collaboration between the
two countries.

The envoy appreciated IBCCI's contribution to strengthening economic ties and
stressed the need to leverage geographical proximity into tangible economic
opportunities.

He urged the chamber to pursue a forward-looking engagement by transforming
trade linkages into broader economic partnerships, investments and value
chain integration.

Verma also exchanged views with the delegation on recent developments in
bilateral economic engagement, including mechanisms for trade settlement in
Indian Rupees and ongoing infrastructure upgrades at key land customs
stations to facilitate more efficient cross-border trade.
