DHAKA, April 10, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali has urged Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh, describing the country as one of the world's fastest-growing economies and a secure, attractive destination for investment.
Speaking as the keynote speaker at "Bangladesh Business Seminar" held today at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, the Ambassador highlighted the recently signed Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) as a major milestone in bilateral trade relations, said a press release here.
He informed the gathering that under this agreement, more than seven thousand Bangladeshi products will enjoy duty-free access to the Japanese market.
The seminar was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Embassy and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) with the specific goal of expanding the market for Bangladeshi export products and increasing foreign investment.
Daud Ali specifically encouraged investment in sectors where Bangladesh possesses significant capabilities and a vast skilled workforce, including ready-made garments (RMG), leather and leather goods, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and food processing, information technology (IT) and strategic advantages and infrastructure.
During the event, the Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka Kazuyuki Kataoka provided a presentation on the economic progress and future potential of Bangladesh.
Team Leader of the Industrial Park Unit at Sumitomo Corporation Shota Paku offered detailed insights into the modern and investment-friendly facilities available at the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ).
Additionally, representative of BJIT Inc. Yoto Tsujide highly praised the large, skilled workforce in Bangladesh's IT sector and emphasized the importance of utilizing this vast intellectual resource to meet global demands.
The program was moderated by Senior Director of JETRO Yuji Ando following a welcome address by the organization's Executive Vice President Akiko Okumura.
